Without your permission

The server keeps aggregate operational counters (request path groups, response status, whether the client looked like a bot and response time), rolled up per minute and deleted after 90 days. They contain no IP addresses, cookies or identifiers. Your theme choice is stored only in your browser's local storage.

With your permission: Google Analytics

If you choose Allow in the analytics prompt, the site loads Google Analytics 4 to count page views and engagement. Before that choice no Google script is loaded and no analytics cookie is set. Advertising features, Google signals and ad personalisation are off; granular location and device data collection is turned off, and the property keeps event and user data for two months. We send page paths without query strings and only the host name of the referring site. Browser privacy signals (Global Privacy Control and Do Not Track) are treated as a refusal. You can change your choice at any time: reset analytics choice. Google processes this data under its own terms: how Google uses information from sites that use its services.

Messages you send

The corrections and submissions form stores your name, email address, the page you mention and your message so the desk can reply. We keep messages for up to 12 months and do not use them for marketing. A keyed hash of your network address is kept with the message only to limit abuse; the address itself is not stored.

Links to other sites

Vendor and source links take you to sites with their own policies. We add rel="noopener" and send no tracking parameters.
