Electrical & Instrumentation

Electrical and instrumentation (E&I) software manages the thousands of instruments, loops, cables, junction boxes and control-system I/O on a modern facility, and designs and studies the power system that feeds them. Database-driven tools generate datasheets, loop and wiring diagrams and cable schedules consistently, while power-system analysis packages model load flow, short circuit, protection coordination and arc-flash for the electrical network.

How to choose

Separate the two jobs. Instrument and wiring design tools and power-system analysis tools solve different problems; most EPC contractors need one of each, connected through equipment and load data.

For instrumentation, prioritise the data backbone: how the instrument index links to P&ID tags, control-system I/O lists and vendor datasheets. Late changes ripple through loops and cables, and good change management is the main productivity lever.

For power systems, confirm the standards and study types your projects require (for example IEC or IEEE calculation methods and arc-flash rules) and whether results can be issued as auditable reports.
