Procurement & Materials
Materials management systems connect engineering quantities to purchase orders and to what actually arrives on site. They handle requisitions, bid evaluation, purchase orders, expediting, inspection, logistics and warehouse issue for bulk materials and engineered equipment, keeping the material status that construction planning depends on. Broader procurement suites add supplier management, sourcing and spend analytics across the enterprise.

How to choose
Distinguish engineering-driven materials management from enterprise purchasing. EPC projects need bill-of-materials-driven requisitioning and surplus/shortage tracking that general purchasing suites rarely provide out of the box.
Trace the chain from model to site: material take-off from 3D design, requisition, order, receipt and issue to a work package. Breaks in that chain show up as idle crews.
Check how the system handles multi-entity projects, joint ventures and owner-supplied materials, which complicate ownership and reporting.
