Engineering Information & Digital Twin

Engineering information platforms manage the facility as data: tags, documents, specifications and their relationships across every authoring tool, validated against the owner's information requirements. At handover they deliver structured asset information (often specified with frameworks such as CFIHOS) and in operation they become the digital twin that maintenance, integrity and operations teams query. Industrial data platforms connect that engineering data with live operational data.

How to choose

Begin with the information requirements, not the platform. Agree what the operator needs (classes, attributes, documents and their relationships) and choose a system that can validate deliveries against it.

Check openness. Connectors to the authoring tools you actually use, and standards-based exchange, decide whether the twin stays current or decays after handover.

Separate engineering information management from operational data platforms, then decide how they connect. Each solves a different half of the twin.
